HeritageToday @JoburgHeritage: 05/05/15: Harris Gordon: HERITAGE AND IDENTITY – THE JOURNEY OF HARRIS GORDON Harris Gordon has a fascinating story to tell: born and raised in Cape Town, the only child of Jewish parents, he learnt the surprising truth of his parentage at his mother's deathbed. That revelation has led to a journey traversing South Africa and into the continent beyond us, Europe and the United States, and has grappled with fundamental perceptions of family, class, race and ethnicity. Some of the landscape may be familiar to us - Zonderwater where Italian prisoners of war were incarcerated in World War II - but much of it delves into the more mysterious terrain of biological and family secrets hidden from him for decades. Join Harris as he tells a story that has mesmerised audiences in Cape Town and the US, and will soon enthral audiences at the Cyril Harris Centre to raise funds for the Lewandowski Chorale's upcoming tour to Berlin this December. Heritage Today courtesy of the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation is broadcast on Tuesdays at 10.45am on 1485 AM in Johannesburg and nationally on #DStv audio channel 869.
